New member here! I have been on the hunt for my next breeding project. Im hoping to find some gnatholebias zonatus or hoignei. I know these are on the rarer side, but Im hoping someone can point me in the right direction!

Thanks, Nico

Hi Nico, welcome to the AKA. Gnathloebias is uncommon but it was in the 2022 convention. I got the the G. hoignei some time after but was not successful breeding it. The member who distributed it is not a current AKA member, but I suggest reaching out to WAKO (Wisconsin club). The fish came from that club and may still circulate there. aka.org/wako

Hello Nico, I have kept and breed both species. With some luck perhaps one will become available through the N&RSC Comm. in the future, but these things are always unpredictable. I will tell you that it took me some number of years to acquire them when I had them, so I hope patience is among your traits. In the meantime I would urge you to get experience with related genera (Pterolebias & Rachovia) to be in a good position to work with them when you Do find some,
I can give you advice about what they need and how to keep them. They aren’t actually difficult to succeed with, they just need it warm, but are rather difficult to acquire. I have videos of both species.
