Go to the topic Membership started by George Caruso and read the posts by George Caruso, Russell Feilzer and David Suffia. These long time members are leaving the hobby and abandoning their fish. They have their reasons and I understand them. But we cannot allow this great wealth of killifish knowledge that they possess to leave with them. What can be done ? First the BOT should contact them and earnestly beg them to stay on as contributing members, Members of Distinction, Member Emeritus, call them what you want but encourage them to write for the BNL or JAKA relating historical lore of the AKA or stories about long lost members that contributed something significant. It’s our stories and shared history that make us the American Killifish Association. This must not be allowed to vanish into the mist of history. I, for one, want to know what they know and learn from them. Please BOT, act for the greater good. Get ahold of these men before it is too late. LONG LIVE THE AKA !

Better still, make JAKA available online somehow so it’s not lost. Or, on DVD. But it’s a huge problem we can’t see the editions from 1980-forward.

Bye the way, after 50+ years breeding killifish, I’m not leaving just yet, at least no by my choice.
