Welcome to the American Killifish Association (AKA) and our newly revised and updated website! If you are first time visitor or a long-time killifish keeper, we are sure you will find many interesting and informative items on our website for you to review. The website is divided into sections; one section that is public and open to everyone and a second section that is open to only members of the AKA that includes member’s forums, archive of the Journal American Killifish Association (JAKA), and the roster of the AKA. If you are not a member of the AKA the website contains many places and learn about keeping and breeding killifish, so please take advantage of them.

The website contains the AKA’s calendar of current events which includes special events/meetings that the AKA Affiliate clubs are hosting and AKA sanction shows. Attending a “killie event” will give you a chance to meet and greet killie keepers who will help you on your pursuit to keeping and breeding killifish. Annually, the AKA hosts the Convention which is usually held in late spring or early summer where the display and availability of killifish is amazing and second to none! It is a three-day celebration of killifish and everyone is welcome!

When you join the AKA, you will be able access the AKA Fish and Egg Listing which is the members portal for selling killifish and eggs. The AKA is unique organization which buying and selling activities are bound by the AKA’s Code of Ethics, which requires the sellers/buyers to adhere to set of rules which protects both groups interest. A new feature to the website is digital archive of past issues of JAKA’s. The JAKA is the leading aquarium hobbyist magazine dedicated to the study, maintenance, and breeding of killifish. The articles provide the killie keeper a powerful resource in their pursuit to learn about killifish. Lastly, the member’s section contains the members roster and contact information, so a member can reach out and contact killifish keepers in their area.

After exploring the new and improved AKA website, I am confident that you will find the information on killifish fascinating and you will want to join the oldest National Aquarium Organization in the country. And if you are already a member of the AKA, I believe you will find the new website easy to navigate and you will enjoy the new features that have been added.
