Type Locality

500 metres north of Yreah, situated approximately 20 km north of Tapeta, central Liberia. Collected in a water course 40 cm wide & 10 cm deep.

Distribution

Restricted to east-central Liberia in the upper Gwen River system which drains into the Cestos River.

Habitat

Swampy perimeters of creeks & small rivers in rainforested areas. The type locality was a shallow water course completely shaded by trees of a rubber plantation. The water was brown, containing rotting branches & fallen leaves, pH 6, DH less than 1°

Collected by Dr.V.Etzel on the 27th July 1978 500 metres north of Yreah.

Breeding Notes

Not often seen in the hobby but presumed to be similar to E.olbrechtsi olbrechtsi.
