Micro-worm freezing for long term preservation
Apr 12th, 2019 at 7:13am

Has anyone had direct experience in freezing micro-worm cultures for long periods of time. I though it might be a great way to have a backup culture for unexpected culture loss, so never to have a lack of micro-worms in the fish room.  I've heard this has been done and is possible.

Please followup post your experiences,

Thanks,

I froze as a test a small culture of micro-worms for two (2) weeks in standard refrigerator freezer.  After two weeks thawed out culture and culture was sterile.

Culture contained after three days no (0) viable micro-worms after thawing. I will try a deep freeze next in a -10 dgF deep freezer and report.

Interesting, Jim have you tried the deep freeze method and seen if it works?
