Mostly found near the waters surface. Hatching takes 12 - 18 days in
water at 20°C. Fry on hatching are able to take newly hatched brine
shrimp. Fry stay near the waters surface & a shallow fry rearing
tank is preferred. Sterba in Freshwater Fishes reported that egg incubation takes 3 weeks. |
| Diameter of Egg | Given as 'relatively large' by Sterba in Freshwater Fishes'. Some breeders put the size at 2 mm. |
