Small clear flowing rainforest streams & swamps. Sympatric sp. A.batesii (or kunzi ?), A.cameronense (obscurum ?), A.exiguum, Ep.sangmelinensis ( or neumanni ? ) Episemion callipteron ?. |

History |
First collection thought to be by Thys in 1964 at Ebogo on the Nyong River. Clausen collected in 1966 - 6·5 km from Abong Mbam on the road to Bertoua. Radda collected the type specimens in 1971. Collected again by Thys in 1973 from Endom & Zoulabot II in the Dja River basin, east Cameroon. Heinemann & Lenz collected in December 1978/January 1979 in the village of Essangmvout, 35km southeast of Sangmélima & 2kms west of Emvieng (48km southeast of Samgmélima.) Collected by Grell & Kohler in 1990 3 km east of Minta on the road to Diang. Passaro & Eberl collected in 1994 at Azabiloné. Huijgevoort et al collected in 2000 from 7 km west of Ebebiyin. |

Breeding Notes |
Reportedly not one of the easier lampeyes. Permanent
breeding set ups are considered best. Water incubation of eggs takes
10-14 days. Fry are small & do best on Paramecium
as a first food. Growth rate is slow with maturity taking 10 months. |
