History |
Baudon collected 24 specimens from the Léconi & Passa Rivers situated in the upper southern Ogowe. These were used by Pellegrin to describe the subspecies Haplochilus lujae var. ogoensis. He also reported 23 other ogoense forms from the Louesse River.
Breeding Notes |
An easy species to breed in the usual mop spawning set up. Water incubation takes about 12-20 days. Growth is fairly rapid with sexual maturity being reached around 5 months. Some reports state harder water produces better results in the GHP 80/24 population. This breeder used a group of fish & found them more productive than a pair/trio on their own. Also, they were observed to lay well for a short period & then stop laying for a time.
Diameter of Egg | 1.3mm | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Remarks |
A paper entitled 'The Superspecies ogoense' by Dr.J.H.Huber was translated into English & reprinted in BKA newsletter No. 204, August 1982. |
