GEMHS 00 / 1 - 1km east of Niefang | Collected
30th June 2000. N 01º 50,320'; E 010º 16,671'. Altitude 332
metres. Mbini main drainage system. Location: Situated on a small road
eastward, that starts just south of the police-checkpoint on the road
from Niefang to Evinayong. Approx. 1 km passed the last houses a very
small current crosses the road from south to north. Banks swampy with
lots of decaying leaves and mud. Main stream with sandy bottom. Fishing
was difficult. Aphyosemion cameronense (only one pair), Ctenopoma nanum, Barbus species, Catfish. |

metres. Main Drainage system: Mbini (subsystem: unknown) Location: Same road as Loc. 01., only a few Km. further. Just before the village of Morlota. Current also runs from south to north, directly into the Mbini. Habitat-conditions similar to Loc. 01. Fishes more abundant, so easier to catch. of current was Rio Muni). Location: Open current at west side of village, outlet of an open marshy area with lots of Nymphea and Araceae. Just one swing with the net to see what was there. Water running towards the north, but is part of a drain that runs to Gabon in the south. Aphyosemion mimbon |

Main Drainagesystem: Komo (subsystem: Mbé) Location: The source of the Sowice, a tributary to the Mbé (Komo), situated on the southern edge of the village Akorenam. A modern well was placed here by some development-aid organization, but water was constantly running through the deep embedded biotope. Inside the biotope it was relatively light and the first part of the stream was with hard bottom of fine and coarse sand. Main Drainage system: Komo (subsystem: Mbé) Location: Situated on the road from Akorenam back to Evinayong, near the village of Yama. Swampy area at southern side of the road, with small entrance into the raphia's at 20 m west of current, that runs from north to south. South-East of current the slopes of a high hill 700+ m. On North-east side of current there was a large pond in which several large fishes (Cichlids) were seen, but none captured. Inside Raphia-swamp almost stagnant water that was almost completely covered by a red "slush". The bottom was made out of a very fine white mud. Fishes, especially A.herzogi found between thick layers of decaying leaves, and in the most darkest places. A.mimbon seemed to prefer the places that still catch a bit of sunlight.
